Coxheath & Farleigh U13 vs Yalding and Laddingford U13

MATCH REPORT – Express Cabs League Div 4 – U13’s

Where do I start , the amount of planning and homework by me that went into today’s game has proved to be a huge success and worth every minute & why I love this game so much and this group of boys.

Today was always going to be a very good test of our ability and how far this team has come since I took over. I should start by congratulating both teams for putting on a good exhibition of football and after the game I spoke with Rob Smith ( Yalding Manager) who I know, and he admitted that he told his boys they were beaten by the better team on the day who were better in every department !!

With any game the first goal is all important and it went to CFJFC , but credit to Yalding within minutes they were level due to a lack of concentration in our defence. We soon however recovered our composure and restored the lead before once again being pegged back (2-2). However this seemed to be the kick up the …… the boys needed and after an incident on the edge of our own box which was a 50/50 tackle and some strong refereeing CFJFC took control of the game which included a good individual goal by Jack followed up with 2 more goals by Josh we went in at halftime with the score 5-2 in our favour.

A strong half time team talk was required to ensure we maintained the pressure and was first to every ball and the first goal was always going to be important and once again this was scored by CFJFC which appeared to put the result beyond doubt. But once again Yalding did not let there heads dropped and continued to attack down the RHS and eventually scored another goal to make it 6-3.

Once again however CFJFC dug deep and despite missing a few good chances again scored another 2 goals to secure what was a remarkable and totally well deserved 8-3 victory.

In a nut shell today’s victory was simply exceptional and proved that the boys are capable of playing as a team and quality football either doing the simple things when needed, short sharp passing or the long ball over the top and now have the desire to compete with the best and should not be afraid of anyone.

Today’s performances started right from David in goal from defence to midfield to WT leading the front line and was further strengthen by the subs when called upon.

Congratulations must go to several people today:

1. The entire team and squad of CFJFC U13’s
2. Richard for marking out the pitch from 8:45 onwards on his little machine – excellent
3. Martin Crane – as my able Assistant Manager who has trained the boys and is always positive in his team talks
4. The parents and families who attended in force today and made so much noise in the touch line and gave positive support and encouragement it was like a 12th man in the pitch

Today’s Scorers: Josh Crane (5) , Jack Hatfield (2) plus 1 own goal

Man of The Match : CFJFC U13 Team !! – Says it all
